Predominantly flat stage linking the Tyrrhenian and Ionian coasts of Calabria. After passing through Pizzo, the riders tackle the short climb to Marcellinara, the day’s only categorised ascent, before reaching Catanzaro Lido. The final kilometres run smoothly along the coast towards Crotone, with a finish well suited to the sprinters.
FINAL KILOMETERS
The closing kilometres are flat, on wide and mostly straight roads. The stage ends with a 700-metre finishing straight.

Tropea

Overview

The jewel of the Coast of the Gods, Tropea is one of the Mediterranean’s most renowned destinations. Crotone

Overview

Founded by the Achaeans in the 8th century BC, Crotone is one of the most important cities of Magna Graecia and home to the famous school of Pythagoras. Overlooking the Ionian Sea, it combines a rich historical and archaeological heritage with a beautiful coastline. Gateway to the Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area, it offers an authentic experience of culture, sea, nature and local traditions.

  1. Sardella Crotonese – A specialty and explosive combination of fresh fish and spicy seasoning. Known as the ‘Calabrian Caviar,’ it is a product of the region’s fishing tradition and reaches its finest expression in the province of Crotone.

Historical records indicate that it was produced even before the Middle Ages, while documents from the 16th century attest to its export beyond the region.
