The first mountain stage of the race. Starting from Sibari, the riders climb towards the Valico di Campotenese, crossing the Pollino massif before continuing through the Basilicata hinterland on a constantly undulating route. The finale is demanding, featuring the ascent to Viggiano with 15 kilometres remaining, making it an ideal battleground for the first clashes among the general classification contenders.
FINAL KILOMETERS
The closing kilometres are flat, on predominantly straight roads interrupted by a few sharp bends. The stage concludes with a 300-metre finishing straight.

Riso di Sibari IGP – Grown in the Sibari Plain over 600 hectares, it is a high-quality rice. The Ionian microclimate makes it unique and versatile.
Fichi di Cosenza DOP – Fichi di Cosenza DOP, Dottato variety grown in the Cosenza plain. It thrives in a hilly, well-ventilated area with an ideal balanced climate.
Clementine di Calabria IGP/ Limone di Rocca Imperiale IGP/ Cedro di Calabria – citrus fruits harvested Oct–Feb, sweet and aromatic, symbols of the region.

National Archaeological Museum of Sibaritide – Located within the Archaeological Park, the museum houses artefacts unearthed from the Sibaritide excavations, including ceramics, coins, sculptures and everyday objects. Its collections tell the story and showcase the extraordinary cultural richness of the populations that inhabited this territory over the centuries.
Pollino National Park – Just a short distance away, it offers landscapes of extraordinary natural beauty. Italy’s largest protected area extends across Calabria and Basilicata, preserving a unique natural heritage of mountains, gorges, ancient forests and rare species. The symbol of the park is the Pino Loricato, a centuries-old tree that grows on the highest peaks of the southern Apennines.
