Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner Jorgen Nordhagen said: “I’ve had to wait for the last day to get the stage win I wanted. Now I can say the Giro is saved. It makes me really happy after such a great job from the team. From the start of the race, we wanted to be in control of the situation. The boys put me in a perfect position on the first time up the main climb and Tim [Rex] did it the second time. The final climb was full gas. Jakob Omrzel was there for the GC and we cooperated very well. I’m not sure if it was a sprint for the stage win. It was just full gas to the line. It was my goal to get in good shape for the Giro NextGen so this win is one of my biggest wins so far. It’s super great!”
