Giro Next Gen 2026, Stage 6: route, favourites and where to watch on TV

18/06/2026

After a few early skirmishes and a taste of what was to come, the time has finally arrived for the general classification contenders to show their cards and make their move at the 2026 Giro Next Gen. Stage 6 remains entirely within the Lazio region, starting in Velletri and finishing atop Monte Livata above Subiaco after 155 kilometres of racing. It marks the first summit finish of the race and the opening chapter of a trilogy of stages destined to shape the outcome of the Giro. Subiaco itself has a rich cycling heritage, having featured several times in Tirreno Adriatico during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The Route

An Apennine stage crossing the Castelli Romani and the Ciociaria region. After passing through Fiuggi and the Altipiani di Arcinazzo, and tackling Passo Sella (7.6 km at 4.2%) and the ascent of San Vito Romano (6.9 km at 6.1%), the route reaches Subiaco for the final climb to Monte Livata.

The ascent measures 13.9 kilometres in total, with an average gradient of 6.9%. The opening four kilometres are the most demanding, with gradients consistently above 10%, before the road eases slightly and settles into a steadier 6% all the way to the summit.

The Favourites

Lorenzo Finn (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe Rookies) will finally find terrain suited to his characteristics and will look to strip the Maglia Rosa from the shoulders of Matisse Van Kerckhove (Visma | Lease a Bike Development), who can count on the support of teammate Elliot Rowe.

Also worth keeping an eye on are Henrique Bravo (Soudal Quick-Step Devo), Mateo Ramírez (UAE Team Emirates GenZ), Matteo Scalco (XDS Astana Development), Rémi Arsac and Aubin Sparfel (Decathlon CMA CGM Development), as well as Niels Driesen and Kamiel Eeman (Lotto-Groupe Wanty), all of whom could have a say on the first summit finish of the race.
