The Giro Next Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale is set to begin on Sunday, June 15, with an individual time trial in Rho, and will conclude after eight stages on Sunday, June 22 in Pinerolo. The race’s grand opening will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 6:30 PM in Piazza San Vittore, Rho, with the official team presentation.
There is great anticipation for Jarno Widar, winner of the 2024 edition, who will try to become the first rider in history to win the Giro Next Gen two years in a row. The Belgian, riding for Lotto Dstny Development Team, will wear dorsal number 1 and will lead a very strong field. Among the most awaited names are: Pau Martí (3rd in 2024), Pavel Novak (5th in 2024), Luke Tuckwell (10th in 2024), Jorgen Nordhagen, looking for redemption after an unlucky edition, Albert Withen Philipsen and Lorenzo Mark Finn, the last two Junior World Champions, and Adria Pericas, designated leader of UAE Team Emirates GEN Z- Among the 2006-born riders, making their debut in the U23 category, keep an eye also on Jakob Omrzel and Aubin Sparfel. Italian hopes will also rest on: Matteo Scalco, Simone Gualdi, and Lorenzo Nespoli.
