Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner Filippo Agostinacchio said: “Two days ago I was kinda thinking of quitting. I was really suffering the heat. I got through the pain yesterday and I came across to the breakaway group. I finished 16th. Legs were good and today, I knew there were not many opportunities left. So I went for it. I didn’t chose the right moment to go solo, I just felt it. I tried on the climb but Nespoli and other guys were stronger than me. I went all out in the downhill. This is the first ever road win of my career so the last 10km were very emotional. I’m not really a big winner unlike my little brother. Maybe next year he’ll be on the start line of Giro Next Gen, I think he’s better than me”.
